Daniel Taylor
President
Daniel is proud to be the President of the Institute of Mercantile Agents (IMA). Daniel is the CEO of the CCSG Group of Companies, where he is a highly accomplished figure in the field of debt collection with over 25 years of experience. He has witnessed firsthand the evolving landscape of collections at both operational and corporate levels, contributing significantly to the industry. Daniel’s expertise and leadership have positioned him as a prominent figure in debt collection, being trusted by Australian and International organisations to develop and lead their collection strategies.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Daniel serves on the Australian Institute of Credit Management (AICM) Board, as well as being on the Board of Auscontact Association, an organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in customer contact in Australia. Further demonstrating his commitment to advancing the profession. Daniel is also actively involved in various industry associations, representing Australia and New Zealand for ACA International.
Damian Crowley
Vice-President - Finance
Damian Crowley has had 14 years experience as a licensed Commercial agent in Queensland. He has extensive experience in all facets of commercial agency work including process serving, field calls, repossessions and skip tracing. He currently holds a Field Agent’s License issued by the Queensland Government. In 2013 he took over the role of Managing Director of Choice Mercantile. He has been an active member on the board of the IMA for the past six years.
Daniel Steers
Vice-President - Administration
Since 2002, Daniel Steers has actively contributed to the mercantile services industry as the principal of Derwent Mercantile in Hobart and a dedicated member of the Institute of Mercantile Agents (IMA). He is a licensed Commercial and Inquiry Agent, Bailiff of the Magistrates Court of Tasmania and Justice of the Peace. His leadership as a former Field Services Chairperson and current Tasmanian State Liaison Officer with the IMA has helped shape a collaborative, high-standard network within the field.
Alex Caruana
Director
Alex Caruana started his career as a Collections Officer over 35 years ago, managing both commercial and consumer debts, including unpaid credit cards and personal loans. He then operated his own Commercial and Private Inquiry Agency, Express Mercantile, for 27 years, handling process service, repossessions, field calls, skip tracing, investigations, and general company operations until its acquisition by a public company in 2017. His experience includes in-depth knowledge of debt collection software from a tenure at a related software company. He also has a rich understanding of the litigation process for debt collection, from initiating proceedings to handling insolvencies, and recognises the importance of effective credit collection procedures. Alex has also held the position of National President for the IMA. His broad industry experience allows him to contribute to the on-going success of the IMA.
